How to make friends with a Kangaroo

We had the most amazing day yesterday! We went to a wildlife park where you can actually pet all the animals. On the way there we saw this sign on the road. It was so Aussie, I couldn't even take it. Right after we stopped to take a picture of it we saw two kangaroos hop across the road. I wish I would have had my camera out so bad. It was so awesome! They look so beautiful when they're hopping really fast.

The kangaroos were really tame and let us pet and feed them. They're probably a little over fed because they just pretty much lay around all day.

Their fur is really soft and they like their backs to be rubbed. They will just lay there all day and let you rub their back.

You can see the opening of this kangaroo's pouch. We could actually see her joey moving around inside her belly. It was amazing!

You can see she has a joey in there while she's standing. At one point she started reaching her little hands in there and then she stuck her entire head in it! We have a video of that and we'll have to show you later on. It was so cute! We were hoping she was going to pull her baby out but she didn't.

I figured a good way to get to know the 'roos better would be to lay down and pretend I was asleep. They actually didn't even seem to notice but Doug and I thought it was pretty clever. They're actually quite lazy. Even when they're standing up they seem to have their eyes shut. It's pretty funny.

Doug and I with the kangaroos! This was easily one of the funnest days I have ever had.

There were lots of other animals there as well. Doug was trying to reason with this emu so we could get a good picture of her. She wasn't having it. Emus are really fussy.

There was also a farm there with tons of different animals; camels, pigs, goats, donkeys, geese, and swans. But this little pony was our favorite. I never knew ponys were actaully this cute! She looked like a cartoon character

The Koala bears were the last thing we saw. Luckily they had just brought in new eucalyptus for them to eat so they were awake. They sleep about 18 hours a day so we were happy to see them awake and moving around. It smells amazing where they are because eucalyptus is the only thing they eat.

We even had meat pies with tomato sauce (not kastchup) to complete our perfect Aussie day!

The meat pie was good and all in all it was a great day! Australia is an amazing country and Doug and I are having such a great time.

OMG! Those animals are so cute! I want to be in Austrailia! My favorite is also the little pony. I just love that spikey hair he has. I guess the ponies down under are a lot more fashion forward!
